I brought my dad, wife and kids. The site is bordering the interior sea within cape Breton. I wish a had pictures for because to only think back of it is breathtaking so I wish you where there to see. The village is built on a loop and the walk bring you from roughly 1746 progressively to the turn of the 19th century.

Had a great time touring this recreation village. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. They knew a lot about their characters, locations and history. They occasionally broke character, but it was always to the benefit of the guest to help them further understand. Definitely a recommended stop for anyone wanting to continue to immerse themselves in Gaelic culture.

What a gem of a spot! Learn about and see how the Gaelic settlers went from Scotland to Cape Breton and see how their lives changed through the years. It's a great way to spend a couple of hours. We really enjoyed it! There is a sign indicating pets are welcome too! We had left our dog at the camper because we weren't sure, so it is nice to know we could have brought him.

We visited the museum for a few hours and got a good impression of everyday life during the first 150 years after the immigration from Scotland. The staff was dressed according to the age of the houses we visited. They performed with music, crafts and information about life in the different times that the individual houses represented. The museum is located beautifully overlooking the countryside.
